Our Policies

Below is an overview of our policies, full terms and conditions are applied in our service agreements and reviewed at time of signing. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Consultation Visit

The goal of this meeting is for the client to explain all the home and pet's routines and to make sure both parties are the right fit. During this time, the on-line client and pet profile, and service agreements, will be reviewed. Consultation is complimentary. Two copies of your house key must be provided at time of booking. The first meeting is complimentary. If a second consultation is requested for any reason after the initial meet and greet, we would be happy to come by and there will be a $25 fee.
 

Reservations

At HomeCheck & Pet Care Services we will always do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs, we recommend placing your reservations at least two weeks in advance for walks and four weeks for pet sitting assignments. Advanced notice will help to ensure your reservation in the event your usual pet care assistant is booked or we are filled due to seasonal scheduling. As an added convenience, a regular service schedule can also be set up as a recurring reservation so you will always have your reservation set. We require 10 visits be prepaid at a time for recurring services.

If you are a new client please take into account that an initial meet and greet must occur prior to the start of any services, this is to ensure we are the right fit to fulfill your pet's needs. It is best to contact us as soon as possible when starting this process for the first time. We pride ourselves in being efficient and easy for all, the set up process can take a couple of days to incorporate into a pet care assistant's routine. Office Hours are 9am-6pm.

 
 

Payment

Payment is due before services are rendered. Pet sitting assignments, payment is due in full 4 weeks prior to the first day of the scheduled service. Payment can be made by paying Visa, M/C, Amex or by e-transfer
 

Cancellations

 We understand things can happen but because we have committed this time on the calender to take special care of your pet, the cancellation policy is as follows –Pet Sitting, vacation visits and Overnight visits. If a cancellation notice is given within (4) weeks of the first day of service a refund will be given. (2) week cancellation notice a credit will be issued to be applied to future services.  

 

Cancellation notification for recurring day visit/walks:  Cancellations must be received within 24 hours of scheduled visit, notification after 8:00 am the day of service will still accrue a full charge for services. If a cancellation is received within this time we will defer the scheduled visit to another date.  HomeCheck & PetCare Services reserves the right to suspend or terminate services because of safety concerns, inappropriate or uncomfortable situations. Clients must call or email the office for any cancellations.

Keys & Alarm Codes

Key and security code requirements will be discussed during the initial meet & greet. We will require  2 sets of house keys at contract signing; there is also the option for a lock box (a $30 security deposit will be required) For alarm and security codes; HomeCheck & PetCare Services will require the client to program our own code. This is to protect the security of your own code.

Pet Health/Behaviour and Safety

We reserve the right to refuse service to any pet for any reason including: without limitation, if it appears that the pet is sick, injured, in pain, or that its behaviour could jeopardize the health and safety of your pet, other pets or our staff. Cats will not be let outside while in our care.
If at any time your pet is found to have fleas or ticks, we may terminate services until the problem is resolved so as not to transfer parasites to other clients. We are not equipped to care for acutely sick pets or biting pets.
We do not walk dogs on retractable leashes, choke chains, prong collars or any other form of aversive training collars. For safety reasons, if at anytime your walker feels that the apparatus used to walk your dog with, is unsafe or not secure enough, we will have available, a flat collar and lead to walk your dog.

Extreme Weather

 If there are weather advisories such as extreme heat, extreme cold, snow storms or storms with thunder and lightening, for the safety of our pet care assistants and your pets, we will take them out for a potty walk, no longer than 10 mins and spend the remainder of the visit indoors for play time! In the event your dog walker or Pet Sitter is not able to get to your home due to snow storms, accident or illness; you will be notified in a timely manner. For assurance it is always recommended to have a trusted neighbour as a back-up.
 

Maintenance Care Workers/ Guests

For Liability and insurance reasons, while HomeCheck and PetCare Services is providing loving care for your pet's, no other service provider, family member or friend is permitted to enter the premises. 
 

Minimum Visit (Pet Sitting)

All dogs will be visited no less then three times a day. All cats will be visited no less then once per day. No exceptions will be made. This is for the health and safety of your pet.
